Mexas is a scientific photographer currently working to produce high-quality scientific images that can be widely incorporated in scientific magazines and publications for the dissemination of science and its results. His image depicts a specimen of trematode (verme) of a Brazilian fish that is very popular in Brazil, specifically in Rio de Janeiro. Mexas obtained the material for the image from Marcelo Knoff, the person who discovered the trematode.

Mexas used an Eclipse E800 microscope to capture the image. This trematode is not well documented and there are not many images about the subject, making this photomicrograph one of the few scientific images available.
